First of all, the Christmas countdown:
Only eight days until Christmas!
Second of all, an announcement:
This is my 200th post on LHCO!
Thanks for sticking with me as I blog about Laura Ingalls Wilder and her books.
Are you all ready for Christmas? If you're still wrapping up presents, consider that there's nothing more in the spirit of "Little House" than making your own gifts and using recycled materials. You can wrap presents with old-timey looking brown paper or recycled maps. You can make your own gift tags using index cards or scraps of cardboard. As to homemade gifts, I'll leave the brainstorming to you!
Some of my best-received gifts have been the ones that I made myself. Making gifts by hand helps us recall the real spirit of Christmas - loving each other, not mindless consumerism. If you look back to the Christmases in the "Little House" books, some of the most memorable celebrations were the ones when the Ingalls family had very little money for store-bought gifts and fancy foods.
LHCO updates Monday, Wednesday, and Friday with stories, recipes, crafts, and trivia from the "Little House" books by Laura Ingalls Wilder.
