Eleven Days Until Christmas!
It's interesting to think that a large roast ham or turkey hasn't always been the standard Christmas dinner. Many families these days have a Christmas tamale tradition to get away from the usual holiday meal.
Laura Ingalls Wilder's family enjoyed oyster soup for Christmas dinner on at least two occasions, once in the very end of On the Banks of Plum Creek and once during The Long Winter (the chapter titled "Merry Christmas").
Today I'm sharing a few different recipes for oyster soup: two vintage ones and one modern one. Enjoy!A rich recipe from 1861
A recipe from an 1840's cookbook
A modern recipe that only takes an hour
