At your local craft store, you can find wood trays, boxes, and other accouterments that are fun to decoupage.
What, you ask, is decoupage? It's a way of decorating objects that involves gluing on cut-up pieces of paper. That may not sound very interesting or artistic, but the truth is that decoupage can often result in spectacular pieces of art.
Want to try it for yourself? All you will need are the following supplies:
- something to decoupage (in the photo below, we used serving trays)
- white glue thinned with a little water, Mod Podge, or another decoupage medium
- all the cool paper scraps you can muster
Plan your design, if you like, then begin decoupaging! Cut out the pieces of paper you will use. Use the glue to attach each one to your box, tray, or armchair. Work out any wrinkles or bubbles with a popsicle stick. When everything is positioned the way you want it, layer several coats of glue over the top to create a smooth finish. Let the whole thing dry completely, then admire your finished product!
Come back to LHCO on Monday for a fun, old-fashioned game!
