Painting a rock

Today's post isn't, strictly speaking, "Little House"-inspired, but it is a fun, low-cost craft to beautify your home. Ma Ingalls would approve.

The title pretty much says it all. Find a rock (you choose the size and shape), scrub off all the dirt, get out your cheap acrylic paints, and go to town. You can paint an abstract design, write a phrase, or paint something inspired by the shape of the rock. When you're done, you will have a lovely, hand-decorated paperweight or knick-knack. Keep it for yourself or give it as a gift!

Here are some examples of painted rocks we've made. This one shows a flower growing from a seedling to a beautiful blossom. On the underside, the word "Patience" appears.
This one is painted to look like a log cabin - maybe like one of the ones Laura Ingalls lived in.
If you like this craft project idea, pin it!
