New England Supper

Three days until Thanksgiving!
Are you excited yet for the Thanksgiving holiday this week? I know I am. For one thing, it means that I get a few days off of school! I'll be glad of the time to relax, catch up on some reading, and eat good food.

If you haven't planned your family Thanksgiving meal yet, take some inspiration from my recent posts with holiday foods, and from chapter 19 of Little Town on the Prairie "The Whirl of Gaiety." For Thanksgiving in the young town of De Smet, the Ladies' Aid put on a New England Supper to celebrate Thanksgiving. Ma made baked beans and a "mammoth" pumpkin pie, and Laura helped wash dishes all evening long. The foods described in this chapter are some of the most mouthwatering in the whole "Little House" series - although every Ingalls and Wilder holiday meal stands out!

On Wednesday, I'll share a creative recipe with a twist on an essential component of your Thanksgiving meal. Thanks for reading LHCO!
