Can you name Laura Ingalls's first schoolteaching experience?
Maybe you were thinking of the school north of town in the beginning of These Happy Golden Years. If so, you were almost correct!
Laura told the story of her first experience teaching school in By the Shores of Silver Lake chapter 27 "Living in Town." Turn to the middle of that chapter to read about her three pupils and their tiny "home-school."
I'm having trouble adding photos to blog posts. Otherwise, I would have included a lovely clip art sketch of the classic little red schoolhouse.
