By this evening, I'll be a high school graduate! In honor of today's special event, I'm sharing a story or two about the conclusion of Laura's high school days.
Did you know that Laura Ingalls Wilder never graduated from high school? Read chapter 27 "School Days End" in These Happy Golden Years to find out why. Hint: it's not because she wasn't a good student!Later on, she mentioned the fact that she'd "never graduated from anything" when she expressed surprise at the reception of her books. She couldn't believe that so many people loved her writing when she wasn't formally trained as a writer. I guess it doesn't take a fancy diploma to make a lasting impression on history! All the same, though, I'd like my diploma, please...
I can hardly believe that I'm done with high school! Since my entire education thus far has been at home, except a few junior college classes, there'll be big changes in store for me this fall. I'm off to college, where I intend to keep on blogging on LHCO. Until then, I'm focusing on having a great last summer as a kid.
Check back Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for more Little House-inspired fun!
