Recipes in a jar

Today's post isn't exactly a Little House-related activity, but it's fun and homemade, so I thought it fit here on my blog.

A recipe in a jar makes a simple yet unconventional gift. You can put cookie ingredients (minus the eggs, milk, and vanilla) in a jar, like this Oatmeal Cookie in a Jar recipe. Alternatively, you can make soups and rice dishes with dried beans and other dehydrated ingredients.

When you give the recipe in a jar away, you attach a tag that has instructions for preparing the recipe. The tag and packaging can get as fancy or as simple as you wish. It's infinitely customizable.
