Aunt Ruby

Did you know that Pa's parents (Laura's grandparents) had ten children? The children of Laura and Lansford Ingalls were Peter, a stillborn son, Charles (Pa), Lydia, Polly, Lansford "James", Docia, Hiram, George, and Ruby. Today's post is about Aunt Ruby, as she was known to young Laura Ingalls.

Aunt Ruby is mentioned in the "Little House" books in Little House in the Big Woods, in the chapter about the dance at Grandpa's.

As to her "real life" outside the "Little House" books, a quick Google search only reveals that she lived from May 23, 1855 to December 1, 1881. She doesn't seem to have been a very prominent historical figure, and she is only remembered for her appearance in the book series.

I couldn't even find a picture of her! How sad.

Hope you enjoyed this post! LHCO updates with something new inspired by Laura Ingalls Wilder's life and times every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday (unless it's spring break).
