Laura's Rose

Remember The Horn Book's Laura Ingalls Wilder? It's a booklet of "Little House" lore compiled by the Laura Ingalls Wilder scholar William Anderson. He also wrote several other, similar booklets, which I plan to write about in the future. Today's featured book is called Laura's Rose, and its subtitle is "The Story of Rose Wilder Lane, Daughter of Laura Ingalls Wilder."
As Rose Wilder Lane's Wikipedia page neatly summarizes, "Rose Wilder Lane (December 5, 1886 – October 30, 1968) was an American journalist, travel writer, novelist, and political theorist. She is noted—with Ayn Rand and Isabel Paterson—as one of the founding mothers of the American libertarian movement." Many "Little House" fans don't know that Rose was an established writer before Laura was. Although it's debated how much Rose helped her mother write her book series, it is known that Rose helped edit the "Little House" books. Laura's Rose focuses more on Rose's own life and career, in which she became an acclaimed writer and world traveler. Read the book for more historical tidbits!
