Happy anniversary!

On February 1, 1860, Charles Ingalls married Caroline Quiner. That's 153 years ago! They remained married for over forty-two years, until Charles's death in 1902. They had four daughters: Mary, Laura, Caroline "Carrie", and Grace. Laura, of course, grew up to immortalize the couple as Pa and Ma in her beloved "Little House" books.

Throughout the series, Pa and Ma were portrayed as ideal parents and role models. I can only think of one time in the books when their relationship was less than perfect, one episode in The Long Winter. When Pa used some mild language in his frustration at one of the blizzards, Ma raised her voice at him in a rare moment of anger, but she immediately apologized to him and went back to being her usual sweet self. Can you imagine?
Above you can see Charles and Caroline's wedding photograph. What a beautiful couple!

Little House Club Online updates Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, so come back soon! Until then, happy reading!
